VETERINARY CARE

Preventive Care and Vaccines

Cats are secretive creatures, so it is important to schedule regular wellness exams so we can track trends and identify changes before they become serious.  We recommend scheduling at least one exam a year for healthy adult cats. Our mature patients (ten years and older) should be seen twice yearly and should have regular blood testing to monitor for  illnesses that become more common as cats age.   Kittens should be seen at eight weeks old for their first veterinary visit and every three to four weeks thereafter until they are five months old to give them the care needed to protect them for the rest of their lives.

We tailor our vaccine protocols for each individual patient, as individual cats have different vaccine needs depending on their age and lifestyle.  We use only non-adjuvanted Purevax® products to ensure the safest possible vaccination experience for our feline patients.

Acupuncture

It may seem like a far-fetched idea, acupuncture for cats. But acupuncture is shown to be an effective adjunctive therapy for a variety of illnesses, from  arthritis to anorexia.  Acupuncture works by stimulating the nervous system by inserting very fine needles into very specific points on the body. From the perspective of Western medicine, feline acupuncture decreases inflammation by stimulating nerve centers; thus causing a cat’s body to release its own pain relieving substances. We are lucky to have Dr. Kristi Sowers of Kindred Souls Veterinary Services available to consult and provide acupuncture, Chinese Medicine, essential oils & natural healing for your cat.  Call today to learn more about these natural adjunctive therapies and how they may help improve your cat's quality of life!

Dentistry

It has been estimated that eight out of ten cats over the age of three have evidence of dental disease. Therefore, establishing a good dental care routine is essential to your cat's long-term health and happiness. We recommend providing good daily dental care at home as well as having your cat's teeth evaluated by your veterinarian at least once a year.

We have a full service dental suite including digital dental x-ray capability so that we can provide safe and comprehensive dental oral health assessments and cleanings.   If tooth or gum disease is identified, we can institute a dental treatment plan, including extractions if indicated.

Surgery

Our surgical suite and anesthesia protocols are designed specifically for our feline patients (not a modified canine protocol).  You can be confident that your cat will have individualized anesthetic monitoring from extremely qualified professionals to minimize their risk while under anesthesia. We offer routine surgeries such as spays, neuters, and mass removals several days a week.  More complex or non-routine surgeries may also be accommodated either by our staff veterinarians or an outside surgeon brought in for more specialized surgeries - let us know what is needed and we can try to make accommodations!
